FAQs
You’ve got questions and we (most likely) have answers. If there’s something we haven’t covered, or if you’d like to talk to a real person, we’d love to hear from you.
Email us at hello@yimilingerie.com and we’ll get back to you.
General
We are primarily an online brand, which means we don’t yet have brick and mortar stores. So getting a Yimi bra is as simple as using our fit and sizing guide to confirm your size and then ordering it. We will then prepare and ship your bra to you.
We’re confident that you’ll love your new bra, though we know how tough it can be to order something so intimate online; that’s why we proudly offer a no frills returns policy, we want you to be completely happy with your bra.
We are working on offering pop up shops, so please keep an eye on our socials for any developments.
Our focus is on creating bras for larger busts, 34E to 40J to be exact. This is because these are sizes that are not readily found in department stores. Even though we have catered for a fairly large range of sizes, we aren’t yet able to make all cup sizes in all band sizes.
We’re still a small company, though we plan to grow! We wish we could cater to every size and hopefully we will be able to in future. Listening to our customers is extremely important to us and we’ll always involve you along our journey.
Orders and Payments
We believe in slow fashion – this means we make a limited number of bras, mostly on pre-order, to ensure minimal wastage.
As such, depending on the season, it may take up to 4 weeks for your pre-order to be ready for shipment. Though don’t worry, you will be notified of the lead time at the time of placing your order.
Once the pre-order window has passed, and we still have stock, regular orders will be shipped within a week of the order being placed.
We use PayFast to process payments. This ensure payments are kept secure.
We accepts payments made using a Visa or Mastercard debit, cheque, or credit card. We also accept Instant EFT, QR Code payments and Scan-to-Pay payments.
Shipping
We ship across South Africa and are working to also start shipping internationally. So, if you’re abroad, let us know from where and keep an eye out for when we will offer international shipping.
- Shipping is free for orders over R1000; otherwise, shipping is R80 for home delivery or R70 for Pargo click and collect
- Orders are expected to arrive within 5 business days from being shipped
Please note that around holidays / holiday weekends, our order fulfilment times may be slightly delayed.
Don’t worry, your tracking number may take 1-2 business days to update from pre-shipment status. You will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number after your order has been shipped.
If you chose home delivery and your tracking number says the package was delivered, but you can’t find it anywhere, try the following:
- Check with a friendly neighbour / security guard / doorman, or a well-meaning roommate / partner, who may have received the package on your behalf without letting you know.
- While we can’t take responsibility for shipments that have arrived but are misplaced, we do find that they materialize quite quickly!
Returns and Exchanges
We want you to be happy with your order! As such, we accept returns or exchanges of any unwashed, unworn, and undamaged goods within 7 days of you receiving the item. They’re intimates after all 😉 The return fee will be for your account. Unfortunately, any product returned outside of our 7-day return window will not be accepted.
Refunds will be made to your original payment method, less a R45 restocking fee to help support the people in our supply chain. You’ll spot this amount deducted from the balance of your refund once we’ve received your returned order and clicked “good to go!” on your return.
Please email us letting us know that you would like to return or exchange your item. We will then send you a quick questionnaire to ensure we can best assist you and initiate the process.
Please note:
- All items purchased on sale are non-refundable; though don’t worry, items bought at pre-order do qualify for refunds.
- Exchanges, store credits or refunds will be issued only after the returned goods have been received and inspected to confirm they meet our return-eligible criteria above.
- Store credits are issued electronically, and the credits do not expire.
- Please allow us up to 10 business days to receive and process your return request from the time of shipping your return package. We will keep you updated along the process.
- While we try our best to meet exchange requests, these are not guaranteed as we make limited garment quantities.
- If you’re returning an item purchased with a discount code, your refund will reflect the amount paid for the item.
- Damaged returns and returns sent back without prior authorization will be returned to sender at their cost.
- Delivery costs are non-refundable
Fit Guide
We recommended checking your Yimi bra size before placing your first order with us.
Though if you aren’t able to measure yourself, a good place to start is with the size you currently wear. If you’re generally happy with the fit, try the same size in Yimi first. If the size is not right, we offer exchanges to get it right!
If you don’t like the way your current bra size fits or are not sure of your bra size, check out our Fit and Sizing Guide or reach out to us at hello@yimilingerie.com and we’ll try to recommend a fit. We’re always happy to help.
P.S. Because our garments sit directly on skin (they’re intimates, after all!) please refrain from trying them on with lotion, oil, or fragrance on your skin. When it comes to something delicate, best to play it clean until you’re 100% sure you’re keeping it.
- Adjust the straps.
Straps should sit snug (without digging or sagging) over your shoulder to ensure optimal support.
- Start on the loosest hook.
The band should (ideally) fit snug on the loosest hook of the hook & eye so you can adjust it over time as the elastic band and fabric naturally stretch with wash and wear.
- Make your band work harder!
Bra bands should fit straight and snug across your back, below your bust line. If a band is rising up in the back, go down a band size. If a band is digging into your sides and creating spillage, go up a band size.
- Don’t just put your bra on – put yourself in your bra.
Get involved! Use your hands to literally scoop up your breast tissue and place yourself into the cup. This may require some shimmy-shake action to get right – though it’s worth it, don’t be shy!
P.S. Bra expert rule of thumb: a snug band = more support; a loose band = straps that will dig.
Product Info
We’ve built our items to last and to support you as you go about your busy life. They’re not so delicate that you can’t wear them in your daily rotation (because then what would be the point – right?!) but when it comes to wear and care – like with any nice garment – the more delicate you treat them, the better they will serve you and the longer they’ll last.
Wear: Bras need some R&R just like you (who knew!). Rotating them every other day or so gives the elastics time to readjust. Our rule of thumb: keep a handful of your favourite bras in rotation – even get duplicates of your go-to pieces.
Care: Bras should ideally be hand washed in cold water, with delicate detergent, and air dried. Though we know this can be annoying, so if you’re going to machine wash them, at least machine wash cold/delicate and air dry (no tumble dryer). Psst, using mesh laundry bags when machine washing bras help extend their life.
Replace: Bras have a ‘shelf-life’ of about 12 months with good wear and care (aka hand washing). Sure, most of us still have an old stretched out bra from another decade, but replacing your bras yearly is best practice for the best support.
We have spent years researching lingerie long before Yimi Lingerie even had a name. We have scoured the world to determine every detail and develop a supply chain that will help us bring the designs we’ve spent years designing and developing to life. We didn’t stop until we found the best of the best, paying attention to every component and the overall fit and comfort of our garments.
As a small, self-funded business, we do not have millions to purchase a vast amount of inventory. And we wouldn’t do so even if we could! We believe in slow fashion and minimising wastage. We believe in making garments to order as far as possible and within the minimum order quantities set by our partner factory and other in our supply chain.
We have spent a lot of time forging relationships with supply chain partners that share our ethos and who also believe it’s important to do good business while we grow our businesses, like we do. We manufacture our collection with a top tier small CMT in South Africa that practices labour and environmental standards we can be proud of.
